Mothers Who Are Reborn: How We Help Women in Pregnancy Crisis

Pro Vita Association camp in Valea Screzii

Not all women experience motherhood with a smile. Some receive the news of a pregnancy in a hospital bed, after being abandoned by their families. Others hear it on a train station bench, with a suitcase in hand and a silent tear on their cheek. There are mothers who have no one to talk to, nothing to eat, and nowhere to sleep. And yet, they choose life.

At Pro Vita Association, we’ve met women who arrived at our gate empty-handed, but with hearts burdened by worry. Some had survived abuse, others were orphans or were cast out simply because they refused to give up their unborn child. They didn’t ask for pity. Just a roof, a warm plate of food, and a hand to hold when their souls began to shake.

In a world that keeps rushing forward without looking back, we choose to stop. To look these mothers in the eyes and say: “You are not alone. You are a mother. And you deserve to be loved.”

Every Mother Has a Story. And Every One Deserves a Second Chance.

We found Nicoleta at the door of a church, holding her belly with one hand and a torn bag with the other. She had been kicked out of her home after refusing to have an abortion. She had no parents, no job, and no hope. Only the child in her womb gave her a reason to keep going.

We welcomed her at Pro Vita, offering her a bed, clean clothes, and peace. But more than anything, we offered her someone who would listen. In the first week, all she said was: “Please, don’t judge me.” We didn’t. We stayed by her side and let time heal her shame and fear. Today, Nicoleta smiles. She has a healthy baby boy, attends classes, and says that, for the first time, she feels at home.

Not all stories start beautifully. But here, at Valea Plopului, every mother can write a new chapter. One in which she is no longer a victim, but a support for her child—and sometimes, even for other mothers.

What Do We Offer to Mothers Who Come to Pro Vita?

Our help begins with an open door. In a world where doors close on the most vulnerable, at Pro Vita mothers find warmth, respect, and patience. We offer more than a roof—we offer dignity.

  • Safe shelter – clean, warm rooms where they can stay with their baby.
  • Daily meals – warm food, baby formula, and special nutrition for pregnant women and small children.
  • Psychological and spiritual counseling – to heal trauma and rebuild trust in themselves and others.
  • Material support – clothes for mother and child, diapers, strollers, personal hygiene products.
  • Education and vocational training – some mothers choose to learn a trade, finish school, or gain experience within the association.

Each day is a new battle, but also a new opportunity. And we tell them clearly: You are not alone. You don’t have to run anymore. This is the place where you are reborn.

Why Do Some Women Choose to Keep Their Baby Despite Hardships?

In a world that tells them to give up, some women choose to say “yes” to life. Not because it’s easy, but because they understand that the child is not their burden—it’s their gift. They choose to keep the baby at the cost of rejection, abandonment by loved ones, and uncertainty.

“Because when I felt him move inside me, I realized it wasn’t his fault.” – that’s what a 17-year-old mother told us, arriving alone, with a torn jacket and eyes red from crying. They don’t ask for pity—just a corner of support. And most of the time, their courage is greater than ours.

We admire them, embrace them, and walk beside them. And in every child they hold to their chest, we see a victory over fear and a triumph of love. Every life saved reminds us that in a mother’s heart beats the hope of the world.

How Can You Help a Mother Keep Her Baby?

You may not be a doctor or a psychologist. You may not be able to offer shelter or a hot meal. But you can make an enormous difference with a simple gesture: helping a mother hold on to hope.

With a small monthly donation, you help feed a mother and her baby. With a kind gesture, like sending a package of clothes or hygiene products, you show them they are not alone. And if you represent a company, you can change entire lives through a sponsorship agreement.

Why should you help? Because every mother who chooses life needs support. And because sometimes, between a broken heart and a brave one—stands your gesture.

Be the Reason a Mother Says “Yes” to Life

Behind every rescued life, there is someone like you—someone who chose to care. At Pro Vita, we meet women on the edge of despair who need just one thing to choose hope: support. A roof, a warm meal, a word that says “you’re not alone.” Your heart can be the first safe place they find.

By donating, you offer more than money. You offer dignity to a woman who has been humiliated, love to a child yet to be born, and strength to a soul that almost gave up. Your support writes new chapters—chapters of courage, rebirth, and unconditional love.

Make a difference today. Help us continue to offer shelter, care, and hope to the mothers who refuse to give up. One act of generosity can save two lives: the mother’s and the child’s. And it begins with you.
