Pro Vita Association is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with a social and Christian mission. Father Nicolae Tănase and his wife, Maria Tănase, founded the association in 1994 in the village of Valea Plopului, where, together with villagers and volunteers, they opened their hearts and homes to abandoned children.
Through generous donations from kind-hearted people around the world, Father Nicolae Tănase managed to purchase land and establish the Valea Screzii Camp. In 2016, the Family-Type Home in Vălenii de Munte was also built.
Father Nicolae built a strong community that has helped over 10,000 souls over time.
Our mission is to protect and promote human life, family values, and the parental vocation, with a special focus on the right to life of all human beings, from conception to natural death.
In Romania, more than one in three children are affected by poverty or social exclusion and suffer from material and social deprivation.
These are the consequences of various challenges affecting individuals, such as family breakdown, poor health conditions, discrimination, inadequate housing or homelessness, unemployment, low income, and limited skills. When these factors intersect, they can create a vicious cycle. Poverty and social exclusion generate deep and long-lasting issues for individuals, families, the economy, and society as a whole.
The social assistance system remains underdeveloped, and the pandemic has further weakened the state’s capacity to meet the needs of disadvantaged individuals.
Our association supports individuals and complements state efforts by continuously providing shelter, food, educational, psychological, and occupational support, as well as facilitating access to medical services, cultural, and recreational activities for those in need.
We receive support in the form of material resources, financial aid, and volunteer time from individuals, businesses, and public authorities to ensure that our beneficiaries live in a healthy environment and have opportunities for development.
